The patented EasiDipper applicator has been designed with similar ergonomics to a manual dip cup for ease of hand movement and to provide easy access to the cows’ teats – but without the hassle of constantly refilling the bottle and without the squeezing. Kuhn North America, Inc., introduced a new line of power harrows, the HR 1004 series. Kuhn HR power harrows are secondary-tillage machines, designed to create a smooth, level seedbed in one pass, saving the operator both time and expense. The improved version of Kuhn’s HR 1003 series, the HR 1004 series includes enhancements such as new side panels for a smoother field finish, and raised top-link attachment points for improved three-point lift and control.

These power harrows feature an improved headstock design with higher top-link attachment and increased clearance for easier coupling to modern, large-frame tractors. The vertical-axis mixing action provides horizontal cultivation that preserves soil moisture and maintains the original soil layers during fumigation or sterilization.

The Cyclone’s HDS Hydraulic Drive System reacts to keep the tractor operating at its most efficient engine speed, regardless of auger loading and/or available tractor horsepower.  When the tractor is running at 1,000 PTO RPM speed, the HDS takes over and manages the mixing load in relation to available tractor HP for the most optimum mixing rate.

Double flighting on each of the twin augers have two pickup points rather than one, which moves more material with each revolution. Each pickup point has adjustable leading edges for maintaining top performance.  Mixing feed becomes smooth running with little to no rocking at the higher clean-out RPM’s.

Cyclone series mixers are equipped with a new wide 42-inch conveyor with heavy-duty chain and slats for faster feed out. The conveyer can be assembled for right or left hand discharge. Optional hydraulically controlled conveyor extension is available for feeding on the floor or in feed bunks.

The new Cyclone HDS vertical mixers are available in three trailer models: the 1105 HDS has mixing capacity of 1100 cu. ft.; the 1355 HDS capacity is 1,350 cu. ft.; and the 1505 HDS capacity is 1,500 cu. ft.

SmartStax technology also provides herbicide flexibility. A 109-day hybrid, F2F626 features very good digestibility and outstanding stress tolerance.

• F2F387 is a 95-day BMR hybrid that includes all the great feeding characteristics of the fuller-season BMRs. It yields well with high populations and offers excellent tonnage and digestibility. F2F387 comes with HERCULEX^® XTRA Insect Protection, along with Roundup^® and IGNITE^® herbicide tolerance. • Providing excellent standability and stress tolerance, F2F298 is a full-season hybrid for use on moderate to higher fertility soils in Northern geographies. It is especially suited for Western growing conditions.

• F2F714 passes the eye test; the tall plant has full ears and high tonnage yield. Well suited for growing in the Western United States, the hybrid provides excellent whole-plant digestibility and very good agronomics. It also incorporates HERCULEX I Insect Protection, along with Roundup and IGNITE herbicide tolerance traits.

New TMF hybrids

• TMF2Q493 is an attractive 97-day medium-tall hybrid with a medium ear placement. It yields excellent tonnage with high quality and provides good stress tolerance. TMF2Q493 has moderately hard kernel texture and offers Roundup herbicide options.

• TMF2L872 is very well-adapted to California and Southwest silage markets. Tall plants feature high ear placement with a narrow leaf and very erect canopy. Ears flex for length, and kernel processing is recommended. TMF2L827 offers good digestibility combined with very high tonnage. The hybrid includes HERCULEX^® I Insect Protection for excellent control of above-ground insects, and offers herbicide flexibility with Roundup and IGNITE tolerance.

• A 101-day hybrid, TMF2L530 is a tall hybrid with medium ear placement and excellent eye appeal. TMF2L530 delivers both high forage yield and high forage quality, with Roundup tolerance. The hybrid features very good early vigor and moderately soft kernel texture.

Dairyland Seed, the developer of hybrid alfalfa, announced a new second generation hybrid specifically designed for tough soil types will be available next season. HybriForce-2420/Wet Gen-2 is a branch rooted alfalfa to be used on heavy or poorly drained soils.

Dairyland Seed was the first to introduce hybrid alfalfa to the market in 2001. Producers increased their yield by 8%-15% with HybriForce-400. Last year, Dairyland Seed brought the second generation to the market. HybriForce-2400 Gen-2 offers an additional 5% increased yield potential. HybriForce-2420/Wet extends the Gen-2 hybrid alfalfa line and also offers a 5% yield advantage over the first generation HybriForce-420/Wet.
