Kuhn introduces the EL 282 series power tillers for use on tractors up to 270 h.p. The heavy-duty power tillers are offered in working widths of 10′, 13′, and 15′. The EL 282 series is designed with features that reduce power-robbing soil buildup under the hood. Dairyland Seed, the developer of hybrid alfalfa, announced a new second generation hybrid specifically designed for tough soil types will be available next season. HybriForce-2420/Wet Gen-2 is a branch rooted alfalfa to be used on heavy or poorly drained soils.

Dairyland Seed was the first to introduce hybrid alfalfa to the market in 2001. Producers increased their yield by 8%-15% with HybriForce-400. Last year, Dairyland Seed brought the second generation to the market. HybriForce-2400 Gen-2 offers an additional 5% increased yield potential. HybriForce-2420/Wet extends the Gen-2 hybrid alfalfa line and also offers a 5% yield advantage over the first generation HybriForce-420/Wet.

The branch root trait combined with high resistance to the six major alfalfa diseases and resistance to Aphanomyces root rot (Race 2) consistently delivers high performance in heavy soil types.

HybriForce-2420/Wet was developed using Dairyland’s patented msSunstra^® Hybrid Alfalfa Technology. Through this process, Dairyland’s hybrid alfalfas all feature greatly improved uniformity, consistently fine stems and greater productivity.

Grote Industries introduced a new version of its Trilliant 36 LED WhiteLight Conversion Bulb, specifically designed to operate in adverse conditions where sodium chloride, high humidity and other corrosive elements wreak havoc on most PAR 36 incandescent work lamps.  The new design includes a more robust, sealed, Packard Metripack 150 connector that resists moisture and chemical intrusion. The Thrifty 150 comes in three models.

Mastitis Management, Inc., of Burley, Idaho, has just introduced the newest addition to its patented line of Thrifty Dipper Teat Dip Applicators, the Thrifty 150™.

The Thrifty 150, which comes in three models, reduces the amount of teat dip required to treat 100 cows milked twice daily to only 4 gallons of dip per month, says Dennis Hakes, an Idaho dairy producer who invented the Thrifty Dipper. The Thrifty 150 bottle holds 14 fluid ounces and will treat 150 cows.

The biggest design change that makes the Thrifty 150 even more “thrifty” is in how dip is delivered to the “wiper” at the opening of the applicator.  When light hand pressure is applied to the bottle, the dip travels to the top of the upper chamber and is deposited in a reservoir ring. When the ring is full, the dip is equally distributed onto the wiper, resulting in a large reduction in teat dip usage, says Hakes. The Thrifty 150 also features a transparent upper chamber so workers can see how much dip is in the chamber and prevent overfilling and wasting dip.  Excess dip is saved in the upper chamber when the teat is removed.  The transparent upper chamber is vital to monitoring savings.

The three new Thrifty 150 models are:

1      The Thrifty 150™ Post uses four gallons of dip per 100 cows per month when milking twice daily.

2      The Thrifty 150™ Pre uses the same amount of dip, but is designed with a special pre-dip wiper that is more durable, lasts longer during pre-dipping, and better accommodates thinner pre-dips.

3      The Thrifty 150™ Pro uses less than four gallons of dip per month per 100 cows milked twice daily – this design eliminates the bottle and dip travels directly from a tote to the teat wiper via a pressurized line.
